“Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg had told reporters earlier this week he would visit the city of East Palestine, Ohio, site “when the time was right.” This, after a 150-car train carrying oil and toxic chemicals derailed, causing a fire and spilling toxic chemicals into the air and water, setting the region on edge and stirring a national furor over rail and chemical safety.

“The visit comes two days after the Environmental Protection Agency, which is overseeing the contamination cleanup, announced that it is moving from the emergency phase of the response to the longer-term recovery phase.” – Politico
